Hayfield junior Bobbie Stephens drilled eight three-pointers as the Viking boys basketball team cruised past New Richland/H/E/G (2-9 overall) 75-50 in Hayfield Saturday.
Hayfield head coach Chris Pack was a little worried with how his team would play after besting No. 9 ranked Byron on Friday, but the Vikings (8-2 overall, 1-1 HVL) pulled off an 18-0 run early on and they never looked back as Stephens finished with 26 points, while hitting eight of his 13 threes.
“Bobbie was unbelievable,” Pack said. “Some people were asking why I didn’t leave him into to break his own record (nine, which Stephens set a couple of weeks ago), but I had to take him out when the game got out of hand.”
Hayfield scoring: Stephens, 26; Brady Stevens, 9; Brady Kramer, 9; Tyler Krekling, 7; Tyler Anderson, 6; Tyler Oakland, 5; Drew Streightiff, 5; Cole Kruger, 4; Dillon Wagner, 2; Ryan Connelly, 2
