Evelyn Lucille Novak, 92, of Blooming Prairie, died at Prairie Manor Tuesday morning, Jan. 11.

She was born July 5, 1918. She grew up and attended school in the Alden area. She married Joseph Novak on Feb. 12, 1944 in Berkeley, Calif. They moved to Minnesota in 1945 where they farmed near Guckeen and Wells prior to moving to Blooming Prairie in 1951. In December of 1978 they moved to Blooming Prairie. A member of First Lutheran Church, Evelyn enjoyed knitting, quilting, gardening, playing cards, dancing and spending time with her grandchildren. Joseph died on Feb. 16, 2001.

Evelyn is survived by two sons, Douglas (Sandra) Novak of Blooming Prairie and Wayne Novak of Rochester; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Violet Hoeg of Wells, Dori (Gerald) Petersen of Alden; one brother, Obert (LaVonne) Jergenson of Rochester; sisters-in-law, Alice Jergenson of Bricelyn, Frieda Farley of Brooklyn Center, Rose Novak of Mason City; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her parents; one sister and two brothers.

Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 15, at First Lutheran Church in Blooming Prairie with Pastor Heidi Heimgartner officiating. Worlein Blooming Prairie Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Visitation is one hour prior to the service. Interment is at Blooming Prairie City Cemetery.
