Bruins split a pair

The Bruins beat Aberdeen on Saturday and lost at Coulee Region in NAHL action Sunday.

Jack Walsh sealed up a two-game weekend sweep for the Austin Bruins when he knocked in a goal with 6:48 remaining in a 3-2 win over the Aberdeen Wings in Riverside Arena Saturday.

Austin (11-19-3 overall) took a 2-0 lead in the first period after John Kirby hammered in a goal, but Aberdeen’s Blaik Doornbos made it 2-1 with a goal 25 seconds later and the Wings (12-20-3 overall) tied it up in the second period.

Bruins goalie Keegan Asmundson made 24 saves as he picked up his second win of the weekend.

Against, Coulee Region, Austin won the shot battle 38-33, but they fell short on the scoreboard 5-1.

Jeremy Finger scored Austin’s only goal of the day.

The Chill put up four goals in the second period against Asumndson, who had 18 saves in two periods. AJ Underwood had 10 saves in the third period.
