The Riverland men’s basketball team lost two of its players to injury at a bad time in a 109-70 loss at No. 5 ranked Rochester (18-1 overall, 3-1 MCAC South) Wednesday.
Josh Davis played just 18 minutes with a knee injury and Denzel Smith played just 10 minutes after getting undercut on a rebound.
“It hurts to lose two of your top four scorers,” RCC head coach Dan Swift said. “DeAaron Hearn (35 points) stepped up, but nobody else really got going.”
The Yellowjackets pulled down 20 offensive rebounds in the first half to take control as RCC (11-8 overall, 2-2 MCAC South) was shorthanded up front.
Smith is questionable for Saturday’s game at Ridgewater and Davis should be back in the lineup.
RCC scoring: DeAaron Hearn, 35; Nicco Montgomery, 13; Josh Davis, 5; Richard Burch, 4; Andre Birdsong, 4; Taylor Oetken, 3; Denzel Smith, 2; Chris Jahr, 2; Donte Cotton, 1; Jordan Jarland, 1
