LANSING — A solar-powered rain and river gauge has been reported stolen from a bridge over the Cedar River near Lansing.
The $1,000 piece of equipment was sawed off and removed from the County Road 2 bridge sometime between 5 and 6 a.m. Saturday, according to transmission records.
The device transmits data to the National Weather Service office in La Crosse, Wis.
Sheriff Terese Amazi said there are no suspects at this time.
The device has a GPS unit but it was deactivated when the gauge was removed, Amazi said.
