The building of an Austin farm shows company was reportedly burglarized sometime between Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning, according to a police report.

Midwest Shows worker Jason Riles reported that he found a number of open file cabinets and missing electronic equipment Thursday at the 315 Fourth Ave. S.E. location.

There were no signs of forced entry into the main building, but a padlock to a garage was missing, and there were keys to the building located in a car sitting in the garage, owners said. The car was not stolen but a radio from it was.

In all, about $2,000 worth of items were stolen, including a number of laptops and music players, according to the report.

Police later received a call from a woman who lived nearby. She said a number of items had unexpectedly showed up in her garage.

Police confirmed that the items made up some of what was reported stolen.

The case remains under investigation, police chief Paul Philipp said Friday.
