An Austin man was arrested Thursday night for two counts of felony domestic assault, one of them by strangulation.

Jonathan Baxter, 55, was arrested after police responded to the 1700 block of Fourth Avenue SE due after a number of 911 hang up calls. According to police reports, the victim told police she and Baxter were having an argument when Baxter allegedly grabbed her by the neck and held her against the sofa. The victim tried calling 911 several times but kept getting disconnected.

Baxter has not been formally charged yet, according to Police Chief Brian Krueger, but reports have been forwarded to the Mower County Attorney’s office.
