The Austin City Council and the mayor are holding a special meeting Monday evening with city employees for a budget discussion.

City officials hope the discussion between different departments sparks good ideas on how to deal with a budget that has been hit by Gov. Tim Pawlenty’s unallotments and an overall down economy.

The public meeting is scheduled for 6:30 and will be held in the large meeting room at the Austin Public Library.
