The first day of Freedom Fest on Friday was also the first day of sales for commemorative pavers that will be used for a veterans memorial make-over.
The bricks will allow veterans or families of veterans to honor those who have served. The bricks will line the walkways of the Mower County Veterans Memorial on Main Street and will feature the names, branches of military and times of service of the veterans.
Each brick will cost $300, and the proceeds will go toward another veterans memorial change — replacing the fountain with a bronze statue of a wounded soldier being helped by another.
