The Mower County Attorney’s office has filed a misdemeanor domestic assault charge against Jonathan Baxter of Austin.

Baxter, 55, was arrested Jan. 27 after police responded to the 1700 block of Fourth Avenue SE after a number of 911 hang up calls. According to police reports, the victim told police she and Baxter were having an argument when Baxter allegedly grabbed her by the neck and held her against the sofa. The victim tried calling 911 several times but kept getting disconnected.

Baxter has pled not guilty to the charges. A pre-trial is set for September.
