An Albert Lea man was arrested for running over a woman with a golf cart on the Fourth of July.

The incident occurred Saturday night at the Beaver Trails Jellystone Park in Austin when the 63-year-old man accelerated wildly and knocked the woman, 61, from Island Lake, Minn., into a pond, pinning her under water. She broke her ankle and was taken to the hospital, according to a sheriff’s department report.

The man was intoxicated, according to the report, but an exact blood-alcohol content was not available Monday.

The man was cited, but formal charges are likely.
