Robert Christopher “Bob” King, 81, of Austin, Minn. died Sunday, March 18, 2012, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.

Bob was born in Lodi Township to John and Genevieve King on June 23, 1930, in their home. Bob worked odd jobs to help the family until he started for the railroad company, where he worked until he was called to serve in the Army. In 1952, he was deployed for almost two years, to Germany as a driver for the anti aircraft division. After serving in the Army he returned to work at the railroad until he went to work for Payless Cashway Lumber. He worked there for 28 years until they became UBC, where he worked for eight more years until his retirement. Bob was united in marriage Lou Hanson on May 24, 1985, at the Crane Community Chapel.

He enjoyed life to the fullest until God asked Bob to join him so he could look down to all the people who loved him. Bob enjoyed playing pool, fishing, watching the Price is Right, Deal or No Deal, and playing Solitaire on the computer. He couldn’t wait for the Twins and Vikings games.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents John and Genevieve King, 5-week-old son Nicholas John, brother Larry King, sister Mary Jane, and brother Bill King.

Bob is survived by his wife LaNora (Lou); daughter Tanisha; three sons from a prior marriage, Keith, Kyle, Kelden; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sisters, Loise Kiefer, Florida, Betty (Leonard) Duryee, Leland, Iowa; Dorothy (Glen) Frazier, LeRoy, Minn., Ann Olson, Las Vegas, Nev.; Brother Jim (Norma) King, Rochester, Minn.; sister-in-law Ilene King, Austin; many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 22, 2012, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Reverend Glenn Monson officiating. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery with military rites by Olaf B. Damm Post No. 1216, Veterans of Foreign Wars and Austin Post No. 91, American Legion. Visitation will be held at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and for one hour before the service on Thursday.

Memorials and flowers are preferred to the family.
