Viehauser scores 1,000th point in RCC win

Riverland forward Krista Viehauser scored her 1,000th career point as she led the Blue Devil women’s basketball team to an 81-69 win over Central Lakes (8-17 overall, 1-9 MCAC South) in Riverland Gym Wednesday.

Viehauser, Austin grad, hit the milestone with her seventh point of the night and she is now the second leading scorer in Riverland women’s basketball history behind Austin grad Brooke (Monson) DeBoer.

The Blue Devils (13-10 overall, 3-6 MCAC South) trailed by one at the half, but they opened the second half with an 18-0 run to take over.

Viehauser finished with 24 points, 13 rebounds, eight assists, three blocks, and three steals while Brooke Rosenstiel chipped in 16 points, nine rebounds and three assists.

RCC is still alive for postseason play, but it must beat Rochester on Saturday at 1 p.m. in Riverland to keep its state tournament hopes alive.
