St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin is hosting the Chapel Choir from Central Lutheran School in St. Paul, Minn. The music ensemble will provide music for St. John’s worship service at 9 a.m. Sunday, March 25.
The Chapel Choir represents Central Lutheran School, a pre-K through eighth-grade school which has been located in the Midway area of St. Paul for more than 50 years. The choir, directed by Elizabeth Wegner, is an auditioned ensemble comprising students in grades 5-8. They are part of a larger choral program that involves over half of Central’s student body.
The students rehearse only once a week during school and are heavily involved in representing the school to the community. In addition to touring, the students sing and perform as a bell choir at Sunday worship services for our supporting congregations and are sometimes asked to provide entertainment at nursing homes, the KTIS radios station, Minnesota Timberwolves basketball games and for other gatherings.
St. John’s Lutheran Church is located at 1200 13th Ave. NW in Austin.
