The Austin Public School board is thinking ahead.

Board members will discuss strategic planning and construction updates at their monthly special session at 4 p.m. Monday.

The board will follow up on last month’s strategic planning discussions, which had the board identify and refresh themselves on the strategic roadmap board members put in place last year. The board may start deciding which aspects of the five-year plan to address at Monday’s meeting.

The board will also hear a construction update on the new fifth- and sixth-grade building and Woodson Kindergarten Center expansion.

District officials are finalizing design plans and will start taking bids on the project this spring, with construction set to begin in June. Woodson’s expansion kicked off Feb. 13 and is expected to wrap up by Aug. 17.
