Robert “Bob” Duane Boysen, 61, of Joplin, Miss., formerly of Austin, Minn., died Sunday, March 25, 2012, at Freeman Heart Institute in Joplin.

He was born Oct. 24, 1950, in Austin to Morris Allen and Ardella Jean (Christenson) Boysen. Robert was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. He graduated from Austin High School in 1968, and then attended the Austin Vo-Tech. After serving from August 1969 to March 1971 in the Army in Saigon, Vietnam, Bob worked for the City of Austin, Winnebago Industries and Wilson Packing, before going to work for the U.S. Post Office in maintenance for 27 years. He retired in October 2010, and then moved to Joplin in December 2010. In 1976, Bob married Debra Reimers. They later divorced. On July 7, 1990, he married Judy (Stephani) Mlenar. Judy died March 22, 2006. He then remarried Debra Reimers Boysen in May 2010. Bob loved gardening, yard work, fishing, and watching sports, especially the Twins, Vikings, and Gophers.

Survivors include his wife Debra Boysen of Joplin.; son Erich (Kelly) Boysen of Leroy, Minn.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Dale (Donna) Boysen of Cottonwood, Ariz., Richard (Lori) Boysen of Hope, Minn., Randy (Mary) Boysen of Blooming Prairie, Minn.; one sister, Marcine (Walter) Jukes of Austin; sister-in-law Theresa Boysen of Austin; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Morris and Ardella, his wife Judy, and brother Larry Boysen.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 31, 2012, at the Worlein Funeral Home Chapel in Austin with the Rev. Dr. Stephen DeFor officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post No. 91 and VFW Post No. 1216. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is in charge of arrangements.
