Rebels can’t hold on

The Southland boys basketball team couldn’t hang on to a lead in a 72-66 loss at Dover/Eyota (4-19 overall, 3-14 Three Rivers) Tuesday.

The Rebels (12-11 overall, 8-9 Three Rivers) led by 10 with four minutes left when Mike Goergen and Decker Bendtsen each fouled out. From that point on, Southland struggled with turnovers as D/E stormed back into the game.

“Our defense didn’t come to play tonight and we just couldn’t put it away when we were ahead,” Southland head coach Jon Thalberg said. “We should’ve been able to hold on to this one.”
