Archie Harold Baley, 90, of Austin, Minn. died Saturday, March 31, 2012, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Archie Harold Baley was born November 9, 1921, in Oakland Township in Freeborn County, Minnesota to Arthur J. and Frances J (Cafourek) Baley. He attended grade school District 75 in Freeborn County. He moved with his family to Mower County in 1933 and attended District 12 Dufty School. He graduated from Austin High School in 1941. Archie worked with his father as a young man and did carpentry work. He also worked on farms until he began employment with George A. Hormel Company. He was employed there for 33 years, retiring in 1980.

On November 10, 1948, Archie was united in marriage to Mildred M. Mayzlik in Austin, Minn. To this union three children were born, Mary Jane, Verne, and Randal. Archie was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Austin. He also was a member of the United Commercial Travelers Fraternal Benefit Society, ZCBJ Czech Lodge No. 38 for 75 years, Western Fraternal Life Association, and the Austin Eagles, Lookout Aerie, No. 703 for more than 60 years. Archie’s interests were fishing in Canada with his friends. He also liked hunting. He enjoyed his Class of 1941 breakfasts and visiting with his classmates. Most important of all to Archie was his loving family.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Mildred, Austin; daughter, Mary Jane Miller, Portland, Ore.; sons Verne (Katharine) Baley, Anoka, Randal Baley, Austin; three grandchildren, Danielle and Aaron Baley, Anoka, Mariela Miller, Portland; brother, Robert Baley, Sr., Myrtle, sister Georgia Oxley, Austin; nieces, nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Frances Baley; sister, Evelyn Kos; son-in-law, Bill Miller; brother-in-law, Allen Oxley.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Grace Lutheran Church in Austin with Rev. Jeff Forbes officiating. Friends may call at Worlein Funeral Home in Austin from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday and at the church one hour prior to the service.
