Southland sophomore Mike Goergen scored a career-high 35 points as the Rebels topped Fillmore Central (8-16 overall, 4-14 Three Rivers) 89-69 in Adams Friday.

“Mike was everywhere tonight and it was fun to watch,” Southland head coach Jon Thalberg said.

The Falcons got to within 10 in the second half, but Southland (13-11 overall, 9-9 Three Rivers) was able to close it out.

The Rebels led 52-31 at the break as Goergen put up 24 points in the first frame.

“We came out of the gates strong. Our defense was good and we got going in transition,” Thalberg said.
