City officials are keeping the ball rolling on several upcoming street projects throughout Austin.
City Council members will set a date for public hearings on assessments for street improvements Tuesday evening at their meeting.
The proposed date for the public hearings is March 21 and members will likely approve the date. Residents who will be affected by the street construction can then voice their opinions on the related assessments.
Members will also vote on a measure to share Tom Dankert, director of administrative services, with Albert Lea on a temporary basis. The shared services agreement would be in place while Albert Lea completes its search for a new city manager; the move would also save the city of Austin $5,000 per month.
“We’re looking at all the possible opportunities to shrink our budgets,” Albert Lea Interim City Manager Pat McGarvey previously said. “I really think this is a bold step if we should try to do it.”
