ST. PAUL — The Minnesota Department of Commerce and the nonprofit group Connect Minnesota are set to present a new report Thursday that will serve as the roadmap for expanding high-speed Internet access in the state.
In December, the department released a report saying the state had a ways to go to meet the Legislature’s goal for all state households to have access to high-speed Internet by 2015.
Lawmakers wanted all households to have access to download speeds of at least 10 megabits per second by 2015, but the reports said only 84 percent of households now meet that goal.
Another of goal called for Minnesota to be among the top five states in average broadband speed. The report found Minnesota was not even close.
