Rose M. Thompson, 90, of Austin, Minn. was welcomed home by God on Easter Sunday, April 8, 2012, with both daughters by her side.

Rose M. Thompson

Rose was born Dec. 1, 1921, in Conger, Minn. to Jack and Edith Somnis where she lived with her large family until she was a young adult. She then moved to Minneapolis and worked in a defense plant until she was married. On Sept. 2, 1945, she married Milton Thompson at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. The couple moved to Austin to build a home and begin their family. Rose was a very dedicated wife, mother and homemaker.

Rose was a member of Crane Community Chapel for nearly 50 years, participated in the Women’s Missionary Group and served as a Sunday School teacher for several years. Her generosity and giving nature showed in the many ways she cared for her own children and opened her heart and home to other children and relatives. She was the foundation of her family and enjoyed sewing, canning, playing cards and keeping in touch with all relatives by attending family reunions and other family gatherings.
