Iris Blanche Johnson, 90, died Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Rosewood Estates in Waterloo, Iowa.

Iris was born March 16, 1922, to Burl and Mattie (Whistler) Hull in Burr Oak, Iowa. She attended school in Dexter, Minn., and later went to Austin High School. She married Wallace “Wally” Johnson on Nov. 19, 1939, in Austin. Iris worked in the dairy department at Hormel for 34 years, retiring in 1981.

Iris was a member of the Eagles, VFW ladies organization and St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin, Minn. In her free time, she often did volunteer work.

She is survived by two daughters, Joan (Bill) Bulow of Waterloo, Iowa, and Jean (Lee) Koenig of Bartlett, Ill; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Iris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Wallace “Wally”; an infant son; six brothers, Lawrence, Ted, Ephie, Russel, Paul and Kenneth; and four sisters, Margaret, Zelma, Vivian and Agnes.

A service for Iris will be held at a later date.
