Evangeline Clarice Louise Sash, 93, of Austin, Minn. died Saturday evening, April 14, 2012, at Primrose Assisted Living in Austin.

She was born April 7, 1919, in Sargeant, Minn. the daughter of John and Louise (Baruth) Schramm. Evangeline was baptized on April 21, 1919, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sargeant and confirmed on April 9, 1933, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waltham, Minn. She attended Trinity Lutheran Parochial School near Waltham. After completing her education, Evangeline cared for her ill mother. On Oct. 28, 1939, she was united in marriage to Ray Louis Sash at Trinity Lutheran Church near Waltham.

The couple made their home on a farm northeast of Brownsdale, Minn. for 58 years, moving into Austin in 1994. Evangeline was an active 4-H mother, taking her sons too many 4-H meetings. She was an active long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church, the LWML, taught Sunday school and sang in the church choir. She loved to cook, always had a big garden and lots of flowers. Evangeline loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed the many family pets, especially her dog Daisy. Ray died on April 1, 2008, and in 2010, Evangeline moved to Primrose, Minn.

Survivors include her three sons, Tyrone (Paula) Sash of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Gerald (Carolyn) Sash of Austin and Richard (Linda) Sash of Albert Lea, Minn.; five grandchildren, Michael Sash, Lynette Spilman, Kristen Ryan, Lon Sash and Scott Sash; one step-granddaughter, Deborah Blood; ten great-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray Sash on April 1, 2008; one son, Rodney Sash in 1984; a grandson, Larry Sash in 2010; a brother, Eugene Schramm; and two sisters, Ludmilla Holst and Lucinda Holst.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 21, 2012, at Trinity Lutheran Church, rural Waltham with the Rev. Jeffrey Kuddes officiating. Interment will follow the service in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the church. The Worlein Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
