Rebel softball team edges out Saint Charles 2-1

SAINT CHARLES — The Southland softball team picked up its first win of the season when it beat Saint Charles (2-2 overall, 2-2 Three Rivers) 2-1 on the road Tuesday.

The Rebels (1-2 overall, 1-0 Three Rivers) did all of their offensive damage in the top of the first as Brooke Yunker and Kelli Smith each had RBI singles.

“We came out swinging at good pitches and got off to a good start,” Southland head coach Greg Schulte said.

Smith went on to hold Saint Charles to just three hits the rest of the way as she picked up the win.
