Harry Victor Brechtel, 93, of Austin, Minn. died at his home on Wednesday, April 18, 2012.

Harry was born May 29, 1918, in rural Lansing to Anton and Anna (Kurzhal) Brechtel. He was baptized at the family home with family members as sponsors. He finished his eighth grade education at Lansing School.

Harry farmed with his family until his marriage to Ardyce Zachgo on Oct. 31, 1943. Harry and Ardyce farmed for three years near Rose Creek before purchasing a grocery store in Lyle. After six months, they returned to farming and they farmed southwest of Adams for 50 years.

Harry is survived by his wife, Ardyce, Austin; children Jack (Paulette) Brechtel, N.C.; Karla (Ed) Hatten, Stacyville, Iowa; Terry (Eddie) Yarbrough, Texas; three granddaughters; two grandsons; 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters Lil Kolpin, Minnie Klingfus, Gladys Berg; brother Earl Brechtel; and two infant siblings.

Honorary bearers will be Bob and Ramona Hanson, Alfred and Martha Mullenbach, Gayle and LaVonne Bergstrom. Casket bearers will be Lester Heller, Steve Heller, Jerry Mullenbach, Mike Mullenbach, David Kirtz and Gary Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 23 at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. Glenn L. Monson officiating. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. and on Monday for one hour before the service.
