Daniel S. Crabtree, age 83 of Brownsdale, died at his home on Thursday, April 19, 2012.

Daniel was born on Oct. 18, 1928, in Ellendale to Lloyd and Pearl (Schroeder) Crabtree. He worked in maintenance for the George A. Hormel & Co. for 37 1⁄2 years. While at Hormel, he served in the Navy during the Korean War as a gunners mate third class. Danny married Phyllis Rose on Jan. 28, 1956 at Westminster Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Lyndon Schendel. After retiring from Hormel, Danny worked at the Mower County Fairgrounds.

Danny’s first love was his family and he enjoyed woodworking, stock car racing, mowing his lawn and being outdoors.

Danny is survived by his wife, Phyllis Crabtree; children: Eugene (Robben) Crabtree, Brownsdale, Judy Crabtree, Austin, David (Ruth) Crabtree, Brownsdale, James (Sue) Crabtree, Blooming Prairie, Robert Crabtree (Kelli Cimmiyotti), Sargeant, Joyce (Tony) Dooley, Brownsdale; 12 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; sisters: Sylvia (Don) Miller, Albuquerque, N.M., Hazel Soukup, Ames, Iowa; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, nine siblings and a step sister.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, at Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Michael Olmsted officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday for one hour before the service.
