Daniel S. Crabtree, 83, of Brownsdale, Minn. died at his home on Thursday, April 19, 2012.

Daniel was born on Oct. 18, 1928, in Ellendale, Minn. to Lloyd and Pearl (Schroeder) Crabtree. He worked in maintenance for Geo. A. Hormel & Co. for 37 years. During his time at Hormel, he left to serve in the Navy. He was a gunner’s mate third class during the Korean War. Danny married Phyllis Rose on Jan. 28, 1956, at Westminster Presbyterian Church by the Reverend Lyndon Schendel.

After retiring from Hormel, Danny worked at the Mower County Fairgrounds.

Danny’s first love was his family and he enjoyed woodworking, stock car racing, mowing his lawn and being outdoors.

Danny is survived by his wife, Phyllis Crabtree; children Eugene (Robben) Crabtree, Brownsdale, Judy Crabtree, Austin, Minn., David (Ruth) Crabtree, Brownsdale, James (Sue) Crabtree, Blooming Prairie, Minn, Robert Crabtree (Kelli Cimmiyotti), Sargeant, Minn., Joyce (Tony) Dooley, Brownsdale; 12 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sisters Sylvia (Don) Miller, Albuquerque, N.M., Hazel Soukup, Ames, Iowa; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, nine siblings and a step sister.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 24 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 802 Fourth St. SW, Austin, with the Rev. Michael Olmsted officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Hayfield. Visitation will be at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday for one hour before the service.
