Zona Brewster, 95, formerly of Austin, Minn., died Wednesday, April 18, 2012, at Crest View Lutheran Homes in Columbia Heights, Minn.

Zona was born Aug. 10, 1916, in Chester, Iowa, the second child of John and Anna (Pedersdaughter Hove) Moe. Zona graduated from high school and completed a business program at Mankato Business College. She married Roger Brewster on March 12, 1944, at St Olaf Lutheran Church in Austin.

Zona was Austin’s first City Hostess. She was known for her famous cinnamon rolls and catering weddings, dinners and other events in Austin for decades.

She was chosen as Woman of the Year in 1984 by Zonta International and has served in leadership positions on numerous boards and organizations through the years such as Y Matrons, Eastern Star and others. She was a Cub Scout leader and served as the Sunday school superintendent at St. Olaf Lutheran Church.

Several years ago, Zona moved to the Twin Cities area to be near family and made her home at the Crest View Lutheran Homes in Columbia Heights.

Survivors include her four children, Judy Brewster of Milwaukee, Wis., David Brewster (Abby Lamberton) of St. Paul, Minn., Dan Brewster of Reno, Nev., and Jill Bishop (Mark) of Plum City, Wis.; grandchildren Todd Roppuld (Paula) of Muskego, Wis., and Captain Elizabeth Fitzgerald of Knob Noster, Mo.; brother Arnet Moe (Velma) of LeRoy, Minn; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anna Moe; brother Vernon Moe; and sister and brother-in-law Ruby and Loren Bymark.

A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at Clasen-Jordan Mortuary with the Rev. Kristi Koppel officiating. Interment will be at Grandview Cemetery. Friends may greet the family for one hour before the service. A reception will be held at the mortuary following the services.
