Richard J. Leibold, 81, of Onalaska, Wis., died Monday, April 23, 2012, in his home.

Dick was born in Spillville, Iowa, on Sept. 21, 1931, to Arthur and Mary Ann (Wagner) Leibold. He married Arlene Hammon on Sept. 3, 1955, in First Lutheran Church, Onalaska.

Dick graduated from Austin High School, class of 1948 in Austin, Minn. He served our country in the U.S. Army in the Korean War. He was a proud veteran and continued to help other veterans by volunteering at the DAV and the VA in Tomah, Wis. He was employed at Trane Co. for 27 years until his retirement and was a proud member of the Trane Co. 25 Year Club.

He is survived by his wife Arlene of Onalaska; two sisters, Mabel (Herman) Foster of Austin and Diane (Matt Gleason) Leibold of Geneva, Iowa; one brother, Bruce (Sally) Leibold of Decorah, Iowa; sisters and brothers-in-laws; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 27, 2012, in the Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Home, 1501 West Ave. S., La Crosse, Wis. The Rev. Tom Meyer will officiate with entombment with military rites by the Roy L. Vingers American Legion Post No. 52, to be held in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park, La Crosse. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Family and friends may also call from 10 a.m. until the time of services in the funeral home on Friday.
