Marjorie Schauer

Marjorie Lucille Schauer, 90, of Waseca, passed away on Friday, April 20, 2012, at the Lake Shore Inn of Waseca surrounded by her family.

Marjorie Lucille was born on April 4, 1922 in Goldfield, Iowa to Wilson Herbert and Ivalie Stella (Wilhelm) Lewis. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Clarion, Iowa. Marjorie was united in marriage to Raymond Benson in 1936 in Goldfield and they resided in Algona, Iowa. Ray passed away in 1956. Marjorie continued to live in Algona and on Dec. 21, 1957 she was united in marriage to Herbert E. Schauer in Fairmont, Minn.

Marjorie and Herb lived in Algona, then Ottertail, Minn. for a short time before moving to Freedom Township, Waseca County. They lived in Lyle, Minn. from 1975 to 1978 before moving to Waseca. Over the years, Marjorie was a homemaker and also worked for Herters Inc. and Brown Printing Company in Waseca. She was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca where she was active in “Grace Golden Years.” Marjorie enjoyed bingo, crocheting, dancing and time spent with her family.

She is survived by her son Don Schauer of Waseca; daughters Shirley (Vince) Adams of London, Minn., Jan (Ray) Keenan of Mankato, Minn., Joyce (Loren) Frink, Carol Benson, Bonnie Tiede and special friend John Haney, all of Waseca; daughter-in-law Linda Benson of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brothers Eugene (Phyllis) Lewis of Clarion and Glenn Lewis of Olathe, Kan.; sister, Bonnie Sheets of Goldfield, Iowa; extended family and many close friends.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her husbands; son Norm Benson and daughter-in-law Deb Schauer; two sisters, Naomi (Lewis) Fawcett and Iris Bischer; brother Virgil Lewis; and brother-in-law Merle Sheets.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 24 at 2 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca with the Rev. Roger Haug and the Rev. Paige Whitney officiating. Interment took place at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Freedom Township, Waseca County. Visitation was held April 24 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Waseca, then from 1:30 to 2 p.m. at the church.

Casket bearers were Jim Fett, Mark Fett, Jeff Jensen, Tim Jensen, Justin Teide, Braden Meyer and Rob Benson. Deon Schauer was an honorary bearer.
