It wasn’t the start she had hoped for, but Austin’s Catherine Wagner kept pace with some of Minnesota’s top golfers at the Class ‘AAA’ girls golf meet at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids Tuesday.

Wagner had a triple bogey on the first and fifth holes of the course, but bounced back to finish with an 82, which tied her for ninth overall with 18 more holes to go.

“Those two triples kind of set her back, but she went on to play solid after that,” Austin head coach Carissa Gabrielson said.

Burnsville’s Gretchen Huhnerkoch had the best score on day one with a 75.

Wagner will open Wednesday’s final round with a 12:07 p.m. tee time.
