The Lyle-Pacelli baseball team had too many miscues as it lost 8-5 to Schaeffer Academy (7-4 overall, 5-2 SEC) in the Riverland Complex Friday.

The game was tied at one when Schaeffer’s Luke Harris singled in a run and the Lions added two more runs on an LP throwing error to make it 4-1.

LP (7-4 overall, 5-2 SEC) loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the sixth when Jonah Rohne was hit by a pitch to score a run. With two outs, LP scored a run on an error and Ryan McConnell singled in another run to make it 8-5, but LP’s Daniel Bollingberg was thrown out while trying to score from second on McConnell’s hit.

“Their catcher made a good play to scoop it up on that one and that’s just baseball I guess,” LP head coach Brock Meyer said.

LP was scheduled to play a doubleheader with Schaeffer, but the second game was rained out before it started.
