Art students win ‘Best of Show’

Nine Austin High School Art Club students entered the Minnesota State High School League Section 1AA Visual Arts competition held last Saturday at the Mayo Civic Center.
Two students won the top honors of “Best in Show” in their categories: Matthew Krofta in Photography and Leah Terry in Sculpture.
Their work will now be entered into the MSHSL state competition held this Saturday at the College of Visual Arts in St. Paul.
Superior ratings were awarded to both Krofta and Terry; Dana Schroeder in Drawing; Erik Solvedt-Decker and Danielle Jondal in Painting, Kayla Blumenshein for two Photography entries; and Jesse Jacobson in Crafts.
Excellent ratings were earned by Danielle Jondal in Drawing; Erik Solvedt Decker and Sage Jungworth in Drawing; Erik Solvedt Decker in Painting; Julia Dudley in Sculpture; and Dana Schroeder and Sami Miland in Crafts.
Some of the winning artwork will be on display in Knowlton Auditorium this week at the 2009 Second Semester Art Show.
The Art Show welcomes the public and will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.
