After fondling a man against his will last February, an Austin man must now register as a predatory offender.
Terry Lee Barrett, 47, was convicted Monday of one count of fifth-degree criminal sexual conduct — a gross misdemeanor. One count of fourth-degree felony criminal sexual conduct was dismissed. Barrett was sentenced to two years’ supervised probation, must complete a sex offender program and was ordered to pay a $900 fine.
The victim told police on Feb. 4 he had gone to Barrett’s house to drop off squash and apples for the victim’s grandmother.
Barrett asked the victim if he had a boyfriend or girlfriend and grabbed his genitals, according to the report. The victim told police Barrett asked him, “[Does] this feel normal to you?”
Barrett allegedly pressed himself against the victim’s body. According to the report, the victim’s grandmother called Barrett, and Barrett spoke to her while allegedly touching the victim’s chest and sides.
The victim believed Barrett was intoxicated. Barrett reportedly stopped when he saw the victim’s grandmother walking toward his home.
