Lori Volz, director of finance and operations for the Austin Public School District, has been named Business Official of the Year by the Minnesota Association of School Business Officials.

Bruce Anderson, interim superintendent of Austin Public Schools, presented Volz with a certificate of recognition at the school board meeting Monday. He said Volz was chosen from “many, many nominations.”

Volz, who has been with the district 10 years, has helped lead Austin to become one of the most energy efficient districts in the country, earning it the Energy Star Top Performer distinction.

School board member David Simonson helped nominate Volz, citing her “immense ability” and “great integrity.”

“You’re at the head of the pack, Lori,” board chairman Don Fox said.
