Renae Jean Capote, 53, of Austin, Minn., died Monday, May 21, 2012, at the Adams Healthcare Center.

Renae was born April 28, 1959, in Austin to Russell and Rose (Burton) Allen. She grew up in Austin. On July 17, 1982, she married Juan Capote in Austin.

Renae enjoyed spending time with her family and loved being a mother and grandmother. One of her favorite things to do was “Sunday Movie Night.” The entire family and often friends would camp out in the living room while watching movies and snacking on pizza and popcorn all night. Renae also enjoyed family vacations, camping, fishing and going on the Mississippi River. She was well known for her love of cooking and throwing dinner parties.

Renae has the unique ability to make those around her feel safe and loved. It didn’t matter if it was the neighborhood kids or someone who had just moved to town without a stable living environment. The doors to her home and heart were always open. She was a woman you could always turn to in need of advice or just to talk.

Survivors include her husband, Juan Capote, Austin; son, Nathan Capote, Austin; daughter, Latanya Capote, Rochester, Minn.; grandchildren, Javoni Juan Capote, Rayna Isabell Capote, Amauri Julion Capote, Dashantae Bonae Capote-Schroht, Davant Allen Capote-Schroht, Alijah Royal Capote; father, Russell Allen, Austin; siblings, Rob (Gloria) Allen, Longmont, Colo., Rhonda (Brian) Bridgeman, Austin, Patty (Clay) Erway, Hillsboro, Ore.; sisters-in-law, Holly Allen, Austin, Lorayne Fournier; brother-in-law, Carlos Fournier; mother-in-law, Norma Ovila Valdivia; nieces and nephews; many special friends.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Rose Allen, and her brother, Randall Allen.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 24, at the Church of Christ, 103 Second St. SW, Austin, with the Rev. David DeFor officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church on Thursday. Arrangements are with Mayer Funeral Home.
