Softball: No. 6 Rebels upset No. 3 Randolph

RANDOLPH — The No. 6 seeded Southland softball team racked up 14 hits as it upset No. 3 seeded Randolph (14-7 overall) on the road in the first round of the Section 1A West Division tournament Friday.
The Rebels (8-12 overall) trailed 2-0 after three innings but junior Hilary Bottema blasted a three-run double in the fourth to get Southland going and Haley Kirkpatrick added a three-run double in the fifth inning.
Southland will play No. 2 Kenyon-Wanamingo Saturday at 11 a.m. in Todd Park in Austin.
