Rosalene Mae Allen, 72, of Austin, died Thursday, April 7, 2011, at the Austin Medical Center.

Rose was born April 16, 1938, in Austin to Frank Herman and Sarah Elvira (Jacobson) Burton. She attended Austin High School. On July 30, 1955, she married Russell Harold Allen in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Rose was a member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, crafting, Bingo, doll collecting, and camping on the islands of the Mississippi River.

Survivors include her husband, Russell H. Allen, Austin; children, Robin (Gloria Connaly) Allen, Sioux City, Iowa, Renae (Juan) Capote, Rochester, Patty (Clay) Erway, Oregon, Rhonda (Brian) Bridgeman, Austin; 13 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; siblings, Merle Burton, Austin, Frank (Mary Jo) Burton, Longmont, Colo., Doug (Pat) Burton, Austin, Clinton (Jan) Burton, California, Donna Gullispie, Effie, Dixie (Bill) Lenz, Austin, Paula (Tom) Wendt, Effie; nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Sarah Burton; son, Randall Howard Allen; siblings, Milton “Mick” Burton, Betty Miller, Phyllis Stutzman, Jerry Burton, Darrell Burton.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. on Monday, April 11, 2011, at the Church of Christ with Rev. David DeFor officiating. Friends may call one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery.
