Rebels get past Medford baseball team

ADAMS — The Southland baseball team opened the Section 1A West Division baseball playoffs with a 6-1 win over No. 7 seeded Medford (6-14 overall) in Adams Tuesday.
Sophomore Taylar Schwartz allowed just three hits and he struck out seven for No. 2 Southland (12-9 overall).
“For being a sophomore in his first playoff game, I’m sure he was a little nervous,” Southland head coach Scott Retterath said. “But he kept the ball down for the most part.”
Southland will host No. 3 Randolph (6-13 overall) Thursday at 5 p.m. in another elimination game.
