4 area softball players receive all-state honors

Four area softball players were honored as the Minnesota Fastpitch Coaches’ Association announced its 2012 All-State softball team.
Blooming Prairie’s Tricia DeBoer, a senior third baseman, and Shelbi Swenson, a junior pitcher, were selected to the Class ‘A’ All-State softball first team along with Hayfield’s Dani Wagner, a sophomore catcher.
BP junior catcher Hunter Henderson was selected to the All-State second team.
BP will play for a trip to its third straight Class ‘A’ state tournament against Chatfield Thursday at 5 p.m. at Todd Park.
Swenson has dominated the postseason so far as she has thrown 27 innings, while allowing just 15 hits, 5 walks and three earned runs, while striking out 41 in four games.
DeBoer is 4-for-15 in the postseason with a triple, 4 runs, 2 stolen bases and 3 RBI and Henderson is 5-for-11 with 3 doubles.
Wagner hit .606 with 7 homers, 8 doubles, 3 triples, 23 RBI and 25 runs scored this season.
