OWATONNA — The Austin Greyhounds received a couple of solid pitching performances as they beat the Owatonna Aces 4-1 on the road Wednesday.
Austin’s Logan Spitzack pitched five innings without allowing an earned run and Aaron Klatt added three shutout innings for the Hounds (5-4 overall).
Each pitcher escaped a bases loaded jam.
“Out pitching was key and we manufactured some runs to get on the board,” Austin manager John Frein said.
The Hounds took the lead in the seventh when Andy Swank beat out a double play to knock in a run and he ended up scoring on a two-out error to make it 3-1. Austin added a run in the eighth when Nate Johnson singled in a run.
