Lynn Marie Schmierer, 49, of Austin, Minn., died Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Austin.

Lynn was born Nov. 20, 1962, in Sacramento, Calif. to Robert and Phyllis (Seibel) Schmierer. She graduated in 1980 from Highlands High School in North Highlands, Calif. After moving to Austin in 2005, she attended Riverland Community College where she studied accounting. Lynn was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and the Do-Day Ladies. She was a quilter, and loved to do woodworking, needlework, crocheting, knitting, and cross stitch. Her greatest joy was spending time with her nephew Ryan and her niece Hannah, for whom she provided childcare.

Survivors include her mother, Phyllis Schmierer of Auburn, Calif.; sister, Wendy Perez of Austin; brother, Gregory (Cheryl) Schmierer of Rocklen, Calif.; nephew, Ryan Perez; and niece, Hannah Perez. She was preceded in death by her father Robert. Lynn was a very loving and caring person who devoted her life to Ryan and Hannah.

At Lynn’s request, no services will be held. Interment will take place in California. Lynn’s family wishes to thank all who cared for her. Memorials are preferred to The Hormel Institute for breast cancer research. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
