Ground-breaking ceremony for jail planned

The ground-breaking ceremony for the new Mower County Jail and Justice Center will take place Thursday.
The Mower County Board of Commissioners will host the ceremonies, beginning 10 a.m. Thursday at Second Avenue and Second Street Northeast.
The public is invited to attend.
Mower County is building a new two-story, 128-bed jail and justice center on two blocks of downtown city property.
The estimated cost of the project is $30.7 million.
Austin Mayor Tom Stiehm will be a special guest at Thursday’s ground-breaking.
Also in attendance will be representatives of KKE Architects Inc. and Knutson Construction Services.
