Blue Devils get a sweep

The Riverland baseball team swept Carleton College by scores of 4-0 and 16-5 on the road Friday.
While the Blue Devils (28-7 overall) amassed 28 hits in the two games, they also stranded 26 baserunners.
“I was a little disappointed in the way were stranding runners. We hit pretty well except for when the bases were loaded,” RCC head coach Scott Koenigs said. “We’ve got to get it done.”
One player who did get it done was Southland grad Derek Emanuel, who had a homer in each game and finished with five RBIs on the day.
Rivlerland pitching was solid as well as Nate Steenblock pitched a five-hit shutout and Alex Buckentine didn’t allow a run in five innings.
“It seems like whoever we throw does a good job,” Koenigs said.
