Eugene died Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at his home.

Eugene Joe Waltz was born on Aug. 29, 1950, to Gerald and Helen (DeRaad) Waltz in Albert Lea. He grew up on the north end of Pickerel Lake and attended Albert Lea Schools. Eugene worked in the plumbing business with his father and grandfather. On April 16, 1969, he was married to Linda Caswell at the United Methodist Church in Albert Lea. Eugene went to work for Imperial Chemical in 1981 and worked seasonally for Speltz Elevator. He became disabled and retired in 2005. Eugene enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Linda; son, Joe (Amy) Waltz; granddaughters Candi and Alyssa; grandson, Junior; brother, Randy (Carol) Waltz; two aunts and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Eugene was preceded in death by his son, D.J.; parents and grandparents; and sister, Candy Waltz.
