The Austin boys golf team finished just 16 of the 18 holes due to rain at the Rochester Invite in Eastwood Country Club Thursday.

Still, Austin head coach Chris Gogolewski was pleased with what he saw.

“This was a great set of scores for the guys, being only our second meet and not having practiced but twice since last Tuesday,” Gogolewski said. “Eastwood is a challenging course and the guys managed it well.”

Alex Thorson led the way for Austin with a 71 and Gogolewksi was also pleased with the leadership he showed.

“ I specifically liked it when Alex said to me, ‘I noticed everyone was coming up short, so I clubbed up,’” Gogolewski said. “To me, that shows he is focusing in on what is happening around him and he made the needed adjustment.”
