With their backs to the wall, the Athletics found a way to pull off an 8-4 win at Mabel/Canton in a baseball game Thursday.

Lyle/Pacelli (3-2 overall, 3-1 SEC) trailed 4-3 going into the seventh inning, but Nate Williamson hit a run scoring single to tie things up and Michael Lonergan singled to score Williamson and give L/P the lead for good.

“We kind of let it slip away early on, but we came up in the seventh and just started hitting the ball,” L/P head coach Steve Baumann said.

Carter Guthmiller added a two-run double for good measure in the seventh.

Cody Meyer picked up the win in relief for L/P as he struck out eight in just under six innings of work.
