Eleven Banfield Elemenatry students took first place as a team, overall in a recent Math Masters competition.

The competition featured 172 fifth-grade students representing 34 different teams from area schools.

The first-place finish was an improvement over last year when the students took second.

Individually the school had three students place. Emily Sayles claimed third in the individual competion and sixth in math facts.

Jack Dankert finished eighth in math facts with a 16th place finish in the individual competion while Lilly Nystel was 11th in the individual competition.
