The Packer baseball team had some trouble on defense in a 12-2 six-inning loss at John Marshall Tuesday.

Austin (1-3 overall, 0-3 Big Nine) allowed four runs in the first inning without allowing a hit and it had eight total errors in the game.

“(Getting behind early) has been kind of a pattern for us so far,” Austin head coach Troy Watkins said. “Defensively, it was kind of a disaster, and the plays we missed were routine plays. That was the difference in the game.”

Dylan Monson hit a two-run homer in the fourth inning to make it 10-2 Rockets, but Austin couldn’t overcome it’s miscues.

“It’s frustrating because defense is one of the strengths of this team,” Watkins said.
